In this interview Juliette discusses why she decided to come from France to train here in New York City. Q: I was part of a specialist firm for four years before coming got New York. We simply did ancient plays, like Shakespeare or Molière, but in Beaumarchais, all those French writers, or a bad way. It was not nasty, but I felt like it was put in my work and my procedure. I decided to come to the U.S. because it is the finest method of behaving in the whole world. I saw all the information about Maggie to the internet looking at studios, schools in New York and Maggie replied me right away, I sent her an e-mail, and she said: “Come on over, and you also could sit back and see what is happening here, view a class.” So that’s what I did. I felt very at ease. She was quite fine, and because it felt like home as soon as I stepped in the studio, I made the decision to come here.
Q: It was tough with the language for a year, especially in the beginning. The reality that I didn’t understand how exactly to say the directions as well as some things with all the various tasks I was kind of wondering if it was ok making other people waste their time. I met with some incredible folks. Charlie was so patient with me, and he took some time to teach all those beautiful things to me. I ‘d an awesome number of people with me that became my family. I see them now, and I’m really happy to be in touch. Q: As an international student you have to take our Professional Actor Training Program. It’s really different. It’s indeed much better. The undeniable fact that I had the voice class made my diction and my American accent than what it used to be because it was terrible, so much better. The Movement class is just one of the reasons why I wanted to come here. The American manner of teaching acting is about the whole process. In France, it is very established it is all about the rest of the things we have as an instrument and the text. Coming join for this classes, I learned the way to stand up; I learned the way to be careful of all the things that we’ve and how to talk. We can do so many things that I was unaware of before. So, it’s transformed utterly. Now I understand coming at evening rehearsal or auditions, I know what things to do, where the work begins and who to get there. I feel more assured. Q: How has your decision to come to the Maggie Flanigan Studio changed your life personally and professionally? As for me, I feel like it was the best two years of my own life. Because I ‘m happier now, it transformed. I have a family in New York. I’ve a family group in France, so I’m quite fortunate. Because now I am more assured, I understand the best way to begin the work it changed professionally, I know what I have to do to get to auditions. I know the way to read a script. I understand about the artistry of crafting and also the activities. We don’t have that in Europe. It taught me numerous things. Now I’m a finished musician. It is great to feel similar to this.
